Patrick Flynn, a veteran from the Korean War Era, mentioned to Sue Fenwick that the small marker with plaques for three fallen heroes from our city in front of Fire Station 10 was inadequate and hardly anyone knew it was there. Sue promised Mr. Flynn that we would build a much larger monument someday. Mary Goodner Hauk suggested Sue ask the City to rename a park for Veterans, and so it all began... After years of fundraising and organizing volunteers, on May 3, 2009 YOUR Veterans Memorial was dedicated to the City of Yorba Linda. This sacred place for prayer, reflection and healing is meant to bless our service men and women, their families, and our community as a whole. Thank you YORBA LINDA and our surrounding communities for seeing a need, stepping up, and making this promise a reality. YOU have made a difference! |
