Yorba Linda Veterans Memorial Asociastion

About

On Memorial Day, 2005, Valley View Sports Park in Yorba Linda was rededicated as Veterans Park.
Since that day, a dedicated group of volunteers as well as members of the community have committed
countless hours toward building a Veterans Memorial that would honor our brave service men
and women. We are continually seeking monetary donations in addition to physical help from those
interested in making this project a reality. We owe so much to those who have served in our armed
forces! For more information on how you can become involved in this worthy endeavor, please
contact us at (714) 777-7894. Thank you. Without YOU, this project would not be possible!

Gold Star:  To honor a "Fallen Hero" ~ any Orange County service man or woman Killed in Service since September 11, 2001.

Veteran:  To honor any service man or woman who has completed their tour of duty.  The veteran's service may include any US war or service during peace time.

How It All Began

This project began with a veteran and a promise.  Patrick Flynn, a veteran from the Korean War Era, mentioned to Sue Fenwick that the small marker with plaques for three fallen heroes from our city in front of Fire Station 10 was inadequate and hardly anyone knew it was there.  Sue promised Mr. Flynn  that we would build a much larger monument someday.  Mary Goodner Hauk suggested Sue ask the City to rename a park for Veterans, and so it all began...

After years of fundraising and organizing volunteers, on May 3, 2009 YOUR Veterans Memorial was dedicated to the City of Yorba Linda.  This sacred place for prayer, reflection and healing is meant to bless our service men and women, their families, and our community as a whole.

Thank you YORBA LINDA and our surrounding communities for seeing a need, stepping up, and making this promise a reality.  YOU have made a difference!
